I just purchased my new Canon 6D and so far I love it. I have been shooting photos for about 15 years. This is my third DSLR with the Canon 10D then the Canon 50D as my previous work horses.

I recently had my photography equipment stolen and this new camera comes from those funds.

My opinion is totally unbiased because I own a 6D and 24-105L.
I do own other cameras of other brands.

Welcome to UHH.

I have, and have had, Canon 40D and 50D bodies.

I'm renting a 6D next week for a Milky Way night shoot (figured I needed a full frame, higher-ISO body for that).

Just curious what's similar and what's completely different from the 50D?

And some unusual product placement.

Welcome! And very cool! I also just bought a 6D and am dying to mess with the Wifi capabilities! I just haven't had the time to learn it yet.

Have fun!

I gradually worked up to a 50D from a Rebel xt, and still have the 50D as my backup camera. I did upgrade to a 5D II, for shooting weddings and events, figuring that full-frame offered more versatility than a crop sensor. When the 5D II was stolen, I replaced it with the 5D III and have been blown away with the improvements that had been made! Better autofocus was the biggest improvement, especially in low light.

Right! I might have set the camera/ flash right on top of the HIM male lubricating cream can to isolate it a little more from the computer keyboard.

Having never heard of this product I Googled what "HIM Cream" is used for.
I have to assume it has other uses also. ???

I have been shooting photos with Canon T3i for almost 4 years, I think is time to go to the next level. In few months I am going to buy the camera 5D Mark III with the lens 24-105MM 4L.

My first Canon ...... Full frame 6D. My only reason in getting the Canon is the distance of sensor to lens mount which will allow me once again to use my collection of c/y mount Carl Zeiss opicts. Great results with the 180/2.8.Taking photos with up to date technologies with the refinements of Carl Zeiss. One word to define the results...... WOW! Too bad the distance is not workable with Nikon. Also taking these photos fully manual and at times using a hand held light meter.

Thought it was a product shoot for the lubricating cream. I have both the 50D and the 6D. The 50D is a workhorse that takes great pictures and is one of my two carry around all the time cameras (the other being a Sony NEX-6). I just had an image published in national photography magazine that I took with 50D and 17-85 EF-S lens, just walking around in downtown LA. The 6D is full frame, higher resolution, has much higher ISO capabilities which are good for shooting wedding receptions (always in dark and darker halls) but it just does not seem as heavy duty as the 50D, 5DII or 5DIII bodies although I have never had a problem with it. It takes incredible pictures. Good Canon shooting!!!

If you can wait that long, I purchased my 5D III with the 24-105 f/4L toward the end of December from B & H. The price at that time was $3,399, just about what the body itself sells for.
