Just like the Civil rights bill Johnson turned to the republicans because without them he would have not been able to pass the bill, if you look at the voting tally's, the republicans give stronger support to Johnson's civil rights legislation than did the democrats.

Indeed, you are full of yourself as are most liberals so full of yourself that you think that you are deserving of history that is not your own.... but believe me, we want you to keep your ACA.... we want nothing to do with it.

Nice try! But before you get your gonads in an uproar: I didn't claim Lincoln and Eisenhower as Democrats, now did !? I merely pointed out that they had "very Progressive" accomplishments. See? Real Republicans can have progressive accomplishments too. And I think the WPA had something to do with coming out of the Great Depression. So, try again. Lets hear some real "conservative" accomplishments. ...Be they by Republicans, Democrats, or any others. I'm sure there must be some.

Everything and I mean EVERYTHING a liberal does ends up blowing up in his/her/our faces. It would be comical if it weren't so sad.....

The ACA was not a conservative accomplishment. Medicare and Medicaid were not conservative accomplishments. The Voting Rights Act was not a conservative accomplishment. The Space Program was not a conservative accomplishment. The Interstate Highway System wan not a conservative accomplishment. Social Security was not a conservative accomplishment. Recovering from the Great Depression was not a conservative accomplishment. The Emancipation Proclamation (an executive order) was not a conservative accomplishment. Indeed, "We the People" would still be British subjects had the Founding Fathers been conservatives. So let's hear it. What have been the great conservative accomplishments in our history?

what you either can't or won't understand is that some the items mentioned were pessed by Republicans. And that the Democrat party has morphed from a centrist orientation to a very liberal one. Although Kennedy, Johnson were democrats they were NOT liberals .. The policies and philosophies of JFK would today resemble conservative more closely than liberal outlook. Furthermore definition of liberal vs conservative changes over time and circumstance. The founding fathers could very well be considered liberal or even revolutionary. The Constitution after all was an excersize in radical change. But today a staunch upholder of that document would be accurately labeled a Conservative. In many ways your entire diatribe is not relevent with current nomenclature.

Before you get your panties in a wad about the WPA and saving us from a depression read this!

FDR did more to extend the depression than anything! Obama is using the same rule book, hence the longest recovery since the great depression. WWII got us out of the depression.

Lincoln would have been drummed out of the modern Republican party. He had compassion for those less fortunate than himself. And, non-whites.

I can just hear Bill-o-liely bashing Lincoln's 'pinhead' ideas now...
or, //insert republican name here// screaming about how the socialist 'Emancipation Proclamation' will ruin American companies; making them noncompetitive with the rest of the world.

Or Sarah Palin asking in her whiny passive aggressive voice: "Why does Lincoln hate American farmers?"

The Modern Republican party doesn't get to claim Lincoln as one of their own given the hatred an disdain shown towards those less fortunate (Or less white) than themselves.

Just as a starter it seems to me that the was signed by none other than Abraham Lincoln, a Republican POTUS. Now how you can claim that as a Liberal accomplishment is beyond me.

Now there you go, being a Liberal. I have never called anyone on this forum a name nor referred to them with any type of derisive thinking. Yet you call me an idiot. You must be a very special kind of person. Please for your own sanity grow up and don't act like a 12 year old who uses name calling to get his point across. You will no doubt respond and tell me that some Right sided people on the forum call names. You are right but I don't. If you want respect from me then don't call me names.

Call it what you want to but Lincoln is recognized as a Republican. As for Liberal or Conservative I suspect JFK would not recognize the Democratic Party for the waaaay far left thinking it has gone to. At least Ronald Reagan had common sense which Liberals do not.
