Thank you Bob.
Guys of our vintage grew up in an era of 25 ISO (then ASA), tripods were an absolute must and nothing was automatic. It was so much fun.

Beautiful shots Pierre, you have the manual focus down pat, well done, the colors and detail are super
Thank you Gregory.
It's been a long, long time since I used that lens. It was the work horse.

Love these shots. What camera and lens did you use?

All are absolutely gorgeous, Pierre. I love each for different reasons but mainly because they are vividly bright colors (or white) on a very dark background which just makes them breathtaking! I still shoot M, not because I'm a control freak, but because its how I learned. and I can't unlearn :∫
I still shoot a lot in M.
I've never got accustomed to P mode. My preference with anything moving is very fast shutter speeds and aperture preferred is OK but not always in my comfort zone. Pix like these were all individually and deliberately underexposed.
Don't ever unlearn using M Carla.
I most appreciate your comments and perceptions about this art form. Thanks so much.

With slick photo gear available now, I've forgotten how much fun it was to putter around a few decades ago doing a shoot in manual mode.
I got a chance this week to wander around the garden using my old vintage lens.
There's nothing automatic, but it's still fun
   Absolutely beautiful, Pierre! Thanks for showing.

I shoot with a Nikon D7100, almost always at least on a monopod, and, when convenient, on a tripod. Shooting out of the car, we carry a couple cheap pillows to brace the camera when shooting out the open window or leaning on the roof.
These pix were shot with a vintage 105mm f2.5 Nikkor lens. Focus, aperture and ISO were set manually.
Out in nature and driving around, Sandra and I each shoot with an 18-300mm Nikkor lens. We are very happy with the quality and convenience.
Also, we used a Sigma 150-500mm until recently and are now awaiting delivery of a 150-600 Tamron.
Finally, let me say that there are many excellent cameras out there. If you're in the market, choose the one you are most comfortable with. The big camera stores all have terrific factory refurbished equipment at good prices.
I most enjoy and appreciate your responses. Thank you for them.

Beautiful set of flowers. Love no 2, such a rich colour in the flower. Needs no alteration.

Great shots, "auto" can't do everything. 👍👍
