Hahaha...I know, rather perplexing. :D

KISS - Keep it simple &^%. I think the multiple choices will only maker it more confusing/messy. I admire your willingness to do the extra work but you then take a weekly simplistic event into one from Column A, another from Column B etc. Will others want to further sub-divide B&w vs. color, P&S vs SLR?
More is not always better.

Words to live by!
From your earlier entry I put you down as NEW.
- Be aware though that photos would be taken that week only
As of this point in time, the tally is -
AS IS...............14
NEW ONLY.........8
NEW AND OLD...4
If you find a different count, please feel free to let me know. S-
If it aint broke dont fix it....AS IS...leave it alone....if it changes then we shoulf add raw...jpeg...pp..no pp....bridge camera. ...point and shoot....nikon... canon....get mg point. Its great the way it is. I enjoy seeinv others work in the challenges and hopefully will put a few of my own in when I can. ...
New Only with a few "Archival Contests" thrown in periodically for good measure. I thought these 'contests' were to "Challenge" and shake things up a bit. If you can't do it, or won't do it, you just don't play that week. P.S. Thank you for all your effort and hard work.

Just what is the problem with both? If you allow older photos in with the new, why bother with the new? I think there are enough members to bring enough images to both competitions and open the competitions up to a wider audience and a higher standard.
There are a lot of older photographers that are not so mobile any more many photographers with family and work commitments that wouldn't be able to contribute to a new only competition.
New is a different kind of competition where subjects may not be ideal and time constraints may lower the standard a little.
Entering is one thing, but for most of us its a great opportunity to see great photo's and be inspired. That is my interest on a weekly basis, sometimes i might be tempted to enter the new competition or perhaps i have an image that fits the theme perfectly which should go in the older photo competition.
If i'm entering I'm hoping for a few votes but I am mostly hoping to see great photo's and bad ones too, you can learn from these too.
How much more work would it be to add two competitions a week? The entering voting and results must be fairly automated.

Yes I see what you are saying and whether I entered the weekly challenge, or not, I always look and learn from the entries. What I meant was, Some of the contest parameters would specify "taken within the week" of the challenge. Others may say "All entries welcome" within the theme of the challenge. I have family obligations, and a sixty hour work week myself, that coupled with my skill level, often precludes me from participating.
However, if the powers that be, have the time to run and moderate two challenge formats, one for 'new' photos and one for 'taken anytime', I am on board and would probably take a shot (so to speak) at both. I just would not volunteer someone else time to request both, only because I know how little time I have some weeks to spare.

You aren't. The opening poster (OP) has volunteered by offering a selection of both old and new. 8-)

My vote: NEW AND OLD
Would members be allowed to enter a photo in each challenge?
