Not sure if this is a fledgling Bald Eagle?? It flew over our camp Saturday Morning and I was just able to react. Hoping someone knows if this a fledgling or some other type of Eagle. Not the best shot, but all I had time to get, Thanks.

It looks to me like a Juvenal, the bald eagle does not get its black and white coloring until its 5 years old. So even though its full size, the color just hasnt changed yet.

Just a couple more juveniles to compare with. I live on a river here and have them year round.

Looks like 1-2 year Bald Eagle. Have been watching several this year and he looks like the ones in our area.

The consistent tail feather coloring does distinguish your shots as an immature bald eagle.
The distinctive light tail feathers with the tell-tale dark terminal band of the OPs eagle are what clearly show it is definitely a Golden Eagle. That is the only real way to tell a Golden Eagle from an immature bald eagle. Other signs are present but the tail feathers leave no doubt.

I agree, an imature Bald Eagle, second or third year. Bald Eagles have a much larger beak than the Golden.

the tell tale sign of a golden eagle is the plummage on the legs. the feathers of a golden eagle extend to the very top of the feet, where as bald eagle feathers stop an inch or so above the feet (because they hunt mostly in water). the bird in question is a 2nd year bald eagle. first year bald eagles beaks are 100% black/grey, the yellow starts to progress into the beak and eyes in the 2nd year. the head, will begin to have white feathers in the 3rd year, not going completely white until the 5th year.

I was going to say bald eagle for 2 reasons. It looks like a bunch of bald eagle juvies that I have taken shots of, but the BIG reason is, cause we don't have goldens in Fl.

Nice capture though!!

It's rare, but we sometimes have Golden Eagles in FL. There is one currently on the St. Marks NWR.
