To All our War Dogs and their handlers. Thank you for your time and service and sacrifice for this great country.

There is a memorial to the War Dogs at the Airborne and Special operations museum here in Fayetteville, NC. The sculptor is Lena Torich.

Thank you, gotta go now as I am tearing up.

This is fantastic, luvmypets! I've read many stories about dogs and their soldiers, and they usually bring me to tears. They deserve our love, respect, admiration, and thankfulness!

Awesome post Dodie!!! I am trying to catch up with everyone.:) I brought one home from Nam when I got out. His name was Killer.:) A very big German Shepard. But he was a very good friend for many years. He was by my side till he past of old age. You brought back a good memory with your post, along with a smile and a tear!!

Thank you for taking time to look and comment. There is a retired dog who comes to the store with his handler. They served together and his handler worked hard to adopt him. They were injured together. It's all I can do not to get on the floor with the dog to hug him and cry all over him. He has just started trusting me enough to take a treat from me.

They absolutely do!!

I have watched lots of the videos of the dogs being reunited with their handlers and I cry like it's someone I know. Pass the tissues!

Thank you for looking and commenting. Sorry I am so late replying.

I know the feeling. I worked at a safari park in Oregon, was an animal handler and construction person, anytime we had to put one of ours down for any reason always was a disheartening time.
