To All our War Dogs and their handlers. Thank you for your time and service and sacrifice for this great country.

There is a memorial to the War Dogs at the Airborne and Special operations museum here in Fayetteville, NC. The sculptor is Lena Torich.

Dodie that is frecking awesome! Thank you ever so much for posting and honoring our four legged hero's who also served our country. We forget about these guys/gals. They deserved to be honored as well. And to honor their handlers! That is one SPECAIL set you have posted! :)

Thank you for looking and commenting! There is a former soldier that comes into the store where I work. He and his dog were both injured but both survived and the gentleman medically retired due to his injuries and the dog was retired many months later. This former soldier worked very hard to find his partner and be the one to adopt him. He succeeded and they are both enjoying civilian life. It took the dog a little time to realize that he didn't have to be suspicious of everyone and has started taking treats from me. I can't wait for the day when he has totally relaxed and I can get on the floor and hug him. It's hard for me being an animal lover to not just hug him and kiss him like all the "civilian" dogs that come through the door.
