I think it was the dog that triggered this idea. I shot them as I found them. I spoke to the dog's master.

Welcome to UHH! When youcomment about a post, be sure and hit the Quote button at the lower left so it is tagged with the post. It took me a few times before I heard about that button...hee hee. You are right, this is a great Challenge as we can see what inspires us in our hometowns. What does yours look like? I will post mine tomorrow. :-D
Here are a couple more.
One of the three churches in Platteville
The bridge over the Platte River
The little abandoned house on the edge of town, with storm clouds
laskalass Thank you for such a good start about home towns. You have such beautiful country. Would love to have that kind of scenery in my back yard. Have been enjoying everyone else's part of the world. This is second best for seeing it. Richard love yours as it got me to chuckle. I chose Sliver Springs park as that is close to where I live. At one time it was an amusement park with glass bottom boat rides and animals. At one time there were movies made there. One that comes to the top of my head is Tarzan. They also use to have concert there in the winter time. One of the singers that they had there was Willie Nelson and many more.

going into the park
the glass bottom boats are on the other side of this building.
The boat on the far left and the second from the right are the glass bottom boats. When you look through the bottom you can see the springs when they go over them
A view of the river.
Some turtles that we saw one day.
One of the glass bottom boats
Stage for the entertainers.

Laska, what a great job as hostess with the mostest and an interesting look around the country and even the world. My town is still pretty rural - population in 2010 = 4,281. At one time, this part of Maine was a territory of Massachusetts. No matter how long you live here, if you weren't born here, you aren't a "native" - even if you were born in another New England state. Yes, there are those who substitute "h" sound for "r" (we drive cahs, and pahk them in the dooryard). People here don't have strokes; they have "shocks". They don't go to the lake or cottages for vacations, they "go to camp" (until I learned this, I wondered what summer camp these adults were going to!) We are about 25 minutes from Portland, Maine's largest city, 20 minutes to the ocean and 30 -45 minutes to mountains and 45 minutes from LL Bean - a famous, historic Maine outdoor company made famous by their hunting boots.

All we got was wind and rain.. No hail here, it blew over us to Commerce City and Aurora... Planes damaged at the airport, did you hear that?
Well that's good to know. Yes I did hear about the planes that were damaged and saw the amazing clouds over the tarmac that one of the news stations posted on Facebook.
