That would depend on the choices presented by the sub-command dial.......Salt, pepper, BBQ sauce, gravy, ketchup, etc........

Just ate my birthday supper at Lockharts BBQ- in Royal Oak, MI! last night. Real Texas style Q cooked over Oak embers too. I was told it is relatives of the Texas place of the same name. Nothing but salt, Pepper and slow smoking. The point cut brisket was awesome, as were the sausage, ribs and pulled pork.

A Camera without scenes mode?

My Pentax P3 SLR also doesn't have a Scene mode along with many other cameras...

Canon single-digit cameras (prosumer and professional models) do not have pre-set scene selections (those are the multitude of little icons you see on point and shoots) on their mode dials. They do have programmable picture styles available through menu options that effect only the jpegs produced from Canon's DPP software. While editing your raw file in DPP you can see the effect the picture style will have on your jpeg.

Looks like I need to correct myself. The Canon 6d has a selection on the mode dial called SCN. When you select that option you are presented with all those point and shoot automatic scene icons.

Since I've never, ever used these I had to go and look. Sure enough the Canon 6D does have them.

Why I can't imagine but there they are.

Just shoot RAW and get the most from your images without worrying about 'Scenes'.

If you look at the mode dial on the typical point and shoot you will see lots on little icons. They are automatic settings for things like snow, beach, flowers, portrait, flash, 'macro'. These settings are also found on the mode dial of many entry level dslrs.

I have scene modes, (Nikon D5100) never used them, so they don't bother me, what's the issue? Set the camera on Raw and the big M or A and photograph...then post process and enjoy!

D-200 no scene mode, D-70 amd D-7000 did and do..... I just ignore them. Kind of like a bully, I keep thinking they will just go away if I don't pay them any attention.

One thing I really like about UHH besides cool photo info is the great humor shown here. Never let it die.
