I have 2 of the Linco 12' lightstands that I use for my backdrop pole. I didn't like them for lightstands because they were a bit sloppy at full extension. I use 12' PhotoFlex stands for my lights, they seem to be a lot more stable, but they cost more too. Its a trade-off. The price is right for a starter set though, and you can always relegate them to backdrop stands! LOL

I'm not familiar with Linco, but have several PhotoFlex lights stands that are quite stable. I'd be leery about putting 500-watt bulbs on wobbly light stands.
The thing about any stands with hot lights are that they be air-cushioned, or you take a strip of gaffer tape (not duct tape that leaves nasty residue) to secure extended sections. This is so as not to break bulbs when the section collapses. This can become expensive. Also, sandbag each light stand to prevent knowing them over--breaking something or injuring someone. Think quality, for yourself and a higher resale value when you do get rid of them.
