My all time favorite photographer is W. Eugene Smith.
I'll try to find a link to his bio, but you can google him to get a feel of just how terrific-a-photographer he was.

This is a real difficult choice given the many types of photography and styles of photographers. But I think I would go for Richard Avedon.

I agree W. Eugene Smith was great, but my favorite has always been Ralph Gibson. Perhaps I like him because it's almost impossible to "figure" him out. Ralph's work is extremely provoking and, sometimes, very confusing. I like that!

If you like confusing you'll love my work! I see you are from Vegas. In Caesars Forum is the shop of a landscape photographer. An Australian. Peter Lik, perhaps? I was impressed with his photography and the way he presents it. Some outstanding work, at least from my point of view.

Mine is my wife as she makes my photo trips so much more enjoyable. She, as I, become lost in photographic moments. Without her understanding I would not be shooting as much as I do or enjoying my time in the field with more camera gear than I need.

My wife. I can spend an hour trying to get a shot or two and she is able to take her telephone out and instantly have something she is totally satisfied with. I wish it were that easy for me....

There are some great ones out there but I will always fall back to Ansel Adams. Not only for his photographs but for his thoughts on events and people out of the photography world.

Louis Hine - He took great pictures but he also let the world see the evils of Child Labor. Dorthea Lang and Margaret Bourke-White would be close. They did not have all day to set up like Adams and they still got great pictures. - Dave

The point is that these photographers did not have all day to wait around till the light was just right. Adams did. - Dave

A true artist would wait until hell froze over if necessary. Button-clickers take whatever they think they can get away with.
