Going to England, Ireland and Scotland in September and wondering what climate is like for clothing? I do not want to stick out too much as a tourist but I am one so I want to blend as much as possible.
What protection do I need for cameras (me Nikon D3100, wife Canon SX50) due to weather?
I have been to Dublin, London and Edinburgh over the last several years. And I saw and shot some nice locations (as well as a Marathon in each city) But I have to say Ireland! Ireland! Ireland!
Everything is so beautiful and the people. The people. I have never met nicer people.
It took a while for me to put my finger on it but when you talk to them, they are genuinely interested in you. They want to know about your trip and how you are doing. They go out of their way to help.
Example, we were there for the Dublin Marathon. One person we talked to talked to us about our life etc
for over 45 minutes before we found out they were also running the marathon. Here in the USA, that would have been the first thing out of someones mouth. Oh you are here for the marathon? I ran the marathon last year and let me tell you about me me me me me
Lets face it we (in the USA) are pretty rude and self centered. But so are people in England and France and (to a lesser extent) Scotland. But the Irish are amazing!!!
Hey other nationalities let you celebrate with them on some holidays, but only the Irish want you to actually BE Irish!
Do NOT wear any fur clothing. You'll get spit on and bashed most places you go there.

Tell that to my sister who has two flats in Cambridge UK that has been spit on and bashed when she wore her fur there.

You simply cannot make such a generalisation, I could make some
a comment about America such as "don't go there you will get shot" but I wouldn't dream of making such a generalisation.
Take a K5 or K3 Pentax and you will not have to worry about rain and fog, as they are weatherproof (make sure the lenses are weatherproof - most of the recent Pentax lenses are). I know they are weatherproof, as I have taken them into wet places: I got the shots and the folks with other cameras hid them away.

Saw a Youtube video where the guy actually held the Pentax under running water.

I'm sure it's the same uTubes, but the guy used a Canon to drive nails. Does that mean we don't need to own a hammer?!
Let's all just use our cameras!!

There are absolutely places in America that you should not go, or you will get shot, for sure :!:

In Oregon, we call it "layering" and we don't care what weather we run into. It boils down to knowing the range and whether we can carry enough layers. That's usually governed by seasons and high vs. lower elevations.
One rule is that there MUST be one waterproof thin layer to fit over all the other layers.
Layering.... then you can just worry about what camera gear to carry. Even then, make sure you have one large baggie that can open enough to get your hands inside with the camera and a hole in front with a rubber band around the lens end, right behind the hood.
Layering......

Essentially in Northern Idaho, north of Sandpoint, up to the Canadian border and in Western Montana from north of Missoula, up to the Canadian border,......
Oh, yes..... and if you are driving any foreign car in Pink.....
I spent ten years in Northern Idaho during one six month period.
Only redeeming feature, the Eagle winter nesting area around Wolf Bay Lodge on the north side of Lake Coeur d'Alene, just a few miles out of the town of Coeur d'Alene.... French for the "pointed heart".
And the favorite target on your body for Aryans, White Brotherhood, and Skinheads. Home to "Ruby Ridge".

You wouldn't be too wrong if you visit the wrong neighborhood in America. But my sister was in upper class areas in front of a very expensive hotel when this happened. The person that smacked her, hit her so hard that he knocked the breath out of her. She reported it but to no avail.
