Sorry if I post this in wrong section but I found no other section that seemed to apply either.

Going to England, Ireland and Scotland in September and wondering what climate is like for clothing? I do not want to stick out too much as a tourist but I am one so I want to blend as much as possible.

What protection do I need for cameras (me Nikon D3100, wife Canon SX50) due to weather?

Three years ago September in England was hot sun. Two years ago, September brought lower temperatures and lots of rain. Last year was very wet. Normally the UK comprises of many microclimates

We don't have weather forecasters, we have people who delight in telling us what the weather was like yesterday in all the different places.

To blend, bring a trenchcoat, anorak or similar, it should be warm enough in England and Ireland, but Scotland temperature depends on where you are going and how high.

You are unlikely to encounter frost, but each day is bound to be different.

Thank you so much for all your inputs, "Jack of all trades " and most likely master of many! What would we ever do without you. :)

Bring minimal clothing and then go shopping and buy what we natives are wearing. For guidance on what we are wearing see my Avatar :-)

Oddly enough I find it very useful, it does cause folk to think about who they are dealing with. When I go into the right shops in Bond Street and Jermyn Street, I get offered a chair to rest on while they serve me and bring my tea

If you are decently clothed anywhere, regardless of situation you will be fine... Except if you are in a nudist only camp....

In the UK we say there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad choice of clothing

When I go to the beach this summer, what kind of suit should I wear? A traditional Speedo or a total body wet suit?

Should I carry my camera gear over my shoulders, or use a wheeled cart?

Speedy, I do a speedo and cucumber combo. But you have to be comfortable with advances by both sexes!!
If the water's cold, I put on a second speedo!

for rain protection my recommendation is these Op/tec Rain sleeves. They fold up nice and small.
