Check yer prices, Juice.

B&H prices:
Bag: $35
Card: $45
Battery: $35
Monopod: $60
Total: $165, not enough to convince me to spend another $400
And that's why I never buy "package" deals.

Point taken! Hey, it sounded good. Even with the package deal, now you are only talking $235 difference in price. I just don't see the deal with a refurb for that few of dollars.

When Nikon refurbs a camera I think the shutter count is zeroed. In any case, I just bought a D800 on Saturday from Hunt's camera for $2200. Shutter count was 1.

Nikon does not roll back shutter count on refurbs/shutter replacements, etc.

True! B&H truly is a quality outfit!!

I always look for refurbished first. Except for a recently-introduced model, that's what I buy. Refurbs come in a factory box with all the bits and pieces, and they've been gone over in detail, so they're in great condition.

The one drawback is the limited Nikon warranty, but B&H will have an extended warranty.

All my Nikon refurbs have had shutter counts well beyond 1, but still very low.

I always buy refurbished (or used) first before I consider being forced to buy anything new. I have purchased d70, several d80s, d700, d800, a 85mm 2.8, 17-35 2.8, 70-200 2.8, 50mm 1.2, several 55-200 vr 4.5 lenses for my kids. I have also purchased iMacs, iPads, monitors, etc. To date, I see no difference in problems with refurbished vs new, and the money saved is significant. I do the same with cars by the way. I always let someone else take the new item depreciation hit for me.

I got two Mac refurbs - like new.

That's true. It's like buying a used car. Was it a taxi, a rental, in a serious accident? All my refurbs have had very few shutter actuations, so I feel good about them.

I agree with Jerry. When I bought my 800E Refurbished, I asked for the actuation count and when I received the camera I checked it out. Everything was right. I believe that B&H to be very above board and professional and will help in answering your questions.

I agree with that, although, this is my 2 cents.....I bought a Nikon 2X Teleconverter from Amazon, used, and it arrived defective, as so I had to return it, and I bit the bullet, and purchased a new one......

I consider myself very lucky then. My D800 looked as if it had been untouched by human hands.

Mine was the same way - 225 actuations. I've put more wear and tear on it in the one year I've owned it!

I bought a refurb D600 that had a 1350 shutter count. It had spots right out of the box. Shot another 3500 and didn't notice a change but sent it in to Nikon for the new shutter and cleaning. They did not reset the counter and the camera was cleaned so that it looks like it should have from the beginning. This tells us that some "refurbs" are just repackaging and perhaps external cleaning.

As long as they stand behind their product you will be okay in the end but might have a hassle to get there.

I bought a 7d refurb from B&H Canon's guarantee is 1 year. Shutter count was 1825. Essentially brand new. Paid about $1250 for the camera and the 18-200 IS lene also refurb. Figured I saved at least $500 for the package. Very happy with the camera and the price.

Mine had over 30,000!!!
B&H took it back and I decided to spring for new one. I did get several refurb lenses from B&H that were like new.
I think that I just was unlucky with the refurb D800, I did buy a used Lumix GH3 later that had only 200 clicks.

Yes.

It came in new condition with no shutter actuations.

I've had it a year now and love it!
