Our bleeding-heart, small-ell liberal socialists who run the penal system have been treating criminals this way for far too long. Most violence is perpetrated by cowards. Cowards love to bully but hate pain, so make it hurt.
As I said: "Recidivism will drop."
Your answer would go like this:- br "You don'... (show quote)

Now your just acting dumb old man. Eat your oat meal and go back to bed.

Maybe it's because of the way your children raised their children that we are in this type of mess. I think it all started with Madeline Murray O'Hare. Then graduated to the "My kid can wear whatever he wants to school" mentality. Since then EVERYTHING imaginable has been challenged in schools around this country and the world for that matter. Your kid wants to wear an ear ring? Take them to court. Your kid wants to wear his hoodie or his Metallica T-shirt? Take them to court. Your kid doesn't want to cut his hair? Take them to court. Then it becomes a national media sensation with interviews of these trashy mothers thumbing their noses at authorities. So who raised these mothers and fathers that teach their kids to do whatever they want? Then they give them the tools like access to the internet with all the porn and recipes for bombs and putting out hit lists. Then you have your cell phones so they can start "sexting" each other their private parts. Blame yourselves for the way the kids are. Don't look for other people to blame for the differences today. It's been years in the making of conditioning young people that they can have whatever they want as long as they scream loud enough. For example, your kids brings a pocket knife to school and gets busted because of the zero tolerance. Now you hire a lawyer to fight this instead of saying yeah my kid did bring a knife and is guilty. He was, wasn't he? Check your kids backpack every morning. Take some responsibility.

Sometimes "complex" issues call for simple solutions.

Complexity is nothing but simplicity multiplied. If you break down a complex situation into sections easily digested by those trying to find an answer for it, simplicity of it shows through.

Look at a space launch. How complex is that. Yet they do it by breaking it down into simple sections. They delegate various duties to certain people that only do what is required of them in a pre-planed manual. And have pre-planed check lists which they go through to help ease the complexity of the launch,

Scenario 8:
Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary hugs him to comfort him.
1957 - In a short time, Johnny feels better and goes on playing.
2013- Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She faces 3 years in State Prison. Johnny undergoes 5 years of therapy

Whoa! This is high school! What high school guy would cry over a scraped knee!

But. I recently retired after about 40 years in the public library field. I remember one day seeing a little girl, about three or four, sitting by herself at a table in the public area. Her little "friends" had just run off, laughing. I asked her what was wrong. She said "They said mean to me!"

She needed a hug.

But, as a male, the most I could do without endangering my career was to gently pat her hand and try to soothe her.

Sad but true!
Our home room teacher allowed all of us boys who were going hunting to bring our rifles to class to show each other, this was about 1954-55. He did say to leave our ammo at home! Imagine what the libs would say today!! :-)

Well Tschmath.. lets be honest... the Death Penalty is a deterrent... That person will never commit another crime.

Public Flogging.... Hummmmm Well at least it would be a punishment.... Recently here in my Small town we had a young man spend a couple of dope addled nights perpetrating some serious vandalism.......His Punishment.....3 weeks of "probation" Bad Boy, Bad Boy, no more dope for you....

At the VERY least he should have had to go and Replace Every Rural Mail Box he destroyed, He should have been made to clean and repaint the buildings he defaced and he should have been made to replace the 37 tires that he slashed..... AT HIS OWN COST......

Or there could be a set of stocks placed on the courthouse square, incarcerated him there with a supply of supple willow branches at hand and a sign saying.... "Test your swing, Buttocks only"

Or Maybe both...

Mike

Lets see... I have 3 great grand sons who arrive at my house at 5:30 every school morning... take up residence on my pre prepared sleeping facilities and either sleep or keep quiet until Wife comes out of the Bedroom, and they then Pop Up like they got springs, dash into the kitchen, turn on the tv and turn their little mouths upward for their morning treats......

After time passes, it is time for them to leave the house and go to school (Conveniently located across the street from us) YOU have seen cartoons of the Tazmanian Devil haven't you.... These three little boys make him look like he is in slow motion.... EVEN Finding a back pack to search is a MAJOR TASK..... and searching its various pockets (6 on one of them) and into all the deep dark corners is something that a 75yr old grandma just doesn't feel up too.... SO Far they have avoided the Police....

Responsibility falls on the Adult AND the young ones..... they know the rules and so far have obeyed them....

Absolutely. Not admonishing the kids from the rules either. But nobody wants to take responsibility when it happens. They get a lawyer and fight it. If the kid took a knife to school he is guilty. Period

Rolf, I agree that your list may be exaggerated however
there is obviously a strong element of reality about it.

many have noticed my signature re "politically correct" no doubt.

I have thought further about "PC" and it goes thus:

There are two "states"; one is "Correct" the other is "Not Correct.

A distinction has been made between being "correct" and being "politically correct". Ergo, being politically correct is not being correct.

Or, politically correct is not correct. So politically correct is an oxymoron?... it makes as much sense as; "one fine day during a dark and stormy night" or perhaps a three sided square.

No wonder police, councilors, lawyers, courts, judges, psychiatrists, tow truck drivers become involved when a someone has a knife... to quarter an orange.

We live in a world that gets more insane every day.

At least get your English correct. It's "Now YOU'RE acting...."
Don't tell me. You're one of those Small Ells that cause the deaths of so many innocent people, due to releasing violent criminals onto the street before they've learnt that their bad behavior is simply unacceptable.

HIGH SCHOOL -- 1957 vs. 2013

Scenario 1:

1957 - Billy is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college and becomes a successful businessman.
2013 - Billy's dad is arrested for child abuse, Billy is removed to foster care and joins a gang. The state psychologist is told by Billy's sister that she remembers being abused (spanked) herself and their dad goes to prison. Billy's mom has an affair with the psychologist.

Scenario 5:
Mark gets a headache and takes some aspirin to school.
1957 - Mark shares his aspirin with the Principal out on the smoking dock .
2013 - The police are called and Mark is expelled from school for drug violations. His car is then searched for drugs and weapons.

Johnny falls while running during recess and scrapes his knee. He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary hugs him to comfort him.

There are a lot of changes but more kids are getting killed and maimed now. I've included a pic of confiscated weaponry (hunting guns);> which i took away from a student.... yes, led to suspension and one year in an alternative school setting for hunter. Or was he a hunter?

Now here is probably a Muslim advocate who wants Sharia Law to prevent recidivism... it works(???) in Iran and Iraq why not in the United States of America?
