Hey fellow photogs I know you all took pics of the moon monday. But did you notice the two stars next to it? What are they my guess is mars and saturn.

Moon, Mars and Spica....Mars is closest to earth it has been in 6 (?) years and Spica is one of the brightest stars we see with our naked eyes....

I never did see the name of the little star to the left of the moon but the one on the right is Spica. Mars was more to the right and higher and brighter. Here's a chart I posted on BrentHarder's thread a couple days ago...

I didn't have the best lens for the job (18-135mm) nikon
I haven't seen to many pictures of the blood moon on this sight. I guess people didn't wait up have you seen any?

Thank you for noticing my efforts. If you cruise the "active topics" and watch for moon in the title you will come up with several posts. I think the above link (
http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-201950-1.html ) Brent's open post is now up to about 14 pages and has numerous contributors. Reading the comments on these posts it seems that there were lots of people ready to take pictures but who were foiled by weather. There is also an astronomy forum here (I forget the exact title) that may have some really serious moon shots by people who work at doing this sort of thing well.
