Ol' Frank Loc: Orlando,

I just discovered or remembered why you have to use a triod when taking long moon shots... Drove 75 miles to get the perfect shot of the moon over the water and it ended up in the trash bin. Out of focus. So much for VR and being old.

Yes, I would use a tripod and also when shooting a long exposure of a second or more I would use the 2 second delay so you don't shake the camera at all when pressing the shutter release.

Hey Brent......What's going on with the top of your shot...?
Looks like there are Ragged Edges on the Moon. Like having a rough, irregular, or uneven surface, edge, or outline..! But Nice.!

What camera and lens are you using? Very sharp and crisp!

Good catch eelslinger.......What is going on with it is that I magic wanded the dark sky and put a fill of black in it but I got rather sloppy. My lens isn't that sharp either.....so the craters are kind of un-crisp! I will be posting some others on this site later when the eclipse happens if I am still up. You should post your moon shots here too!

Canon T2i with the kit 55-250 lens. I couldn't get a good focus with my Tamron 18-270 even after sending it back twice.
