I saw and handled the camera Nikon called it a "Black Market Camera" I did not shoot it and I honestly could not tell the difference. It looked good and Expensive! The only way she found out is that
Nikon told her it was "counterfeit". If she had done more research about the supplier in the blog about the supplier there were warnings that the supplier sells counterfeit cameras.

I believe I read something about knock-offs of Canons and Nikons being made in China. Perhaps that is what happened to your friend. I hope she gets her money back. How did the camera seem to work otherwise?

I have no idea. I thing she tried to register it before she used it.

You are welcome! We do our best, most of us anyway, when we're not hungover or just plain grouchy! :D
I'm curious. How did your friend not realize that the camera was not a Nikon until she talked to Nikon? Did someone purposely put false markings on it? Usually you can't miss the logo.

I wonder if it was grey market. Hopefully the poster can enlighten us.

He said that Nikon referred to it as counterfeit. That wouldn't be grey market. Sounds like a knock-off of some type.

Thanks. I was not aware that Amazon sold items that were not from an actual store. I didn't know that individuals could sell on Amazon. I hope the buyer of the counterfeit Nikon is able to file a complaint against the seller.

I sold a lens about a month ago. The buyer sent me a check, and I sent her the lens. Everything worked out beautifully. It was very simple. :-D

Thanks!

Don't think it was an individual but somebody operating under a business name from what I gather from his post. Probably not that hard to do. It does make me wonder how closely Amazon checks the credentials of "businesses" that sell on their site.
