Myrna has graciously granted permission for folks to work on her excellent photograph of a beautiful, colorful, and well textured cactus bloom. She has stated she doesn't care what kinds of edits may be offered, as long as they are tasteful, and she is curious to see what other people may come up with.

Heres my try at it. Ran it thru color efex 4 using the contrast, darken/lighten center ,and detail filters. Then ran it thru topaz simplfy using the buzslim desaturated filter. Frame was done in picasa

Added some luminosity to petals (they almost look translucent now), and a bit of structure.

Nice to see the different variations. Thanks. Will keep coming back to see what others come up with. I do like what you did with the petals Bob.

This is such a wonderful image in the original. Very well done.

That doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy playing with it, with my own artistic styles.

Here are three of my renderings for everyone's consideration.

There is no method, rhyme, or reason to mine.
I just started moving sliders until I liked what I saw.
I am learning a little at a time, maybe one day it will click, and I'll develop a pattern.

The original is beautiful.

Mooseeyes, in the 60's and 70's, we would have called your artistic styles "Psychedelic".

This lovely flower should be adored by all of us. Here is my homage to it. Started by reducing highlights almost 20%, then used Topaz Adjust Photo Pop filter on it, and added a frame in Picasa.

Beautiful Flower. Experimenting with Capture One. Adjusted color curves, contrast, then used Topaz for Clarity and Detail adjustment. First time to really use either program

This almost makes the petals look like silk.

For some creativity I ran it through Photomatix Pro (HDR software) and used one of the default settings
