But was using for over 25 years a Canon T50, not fancy but I had lenses and what I needed and I loved that camera. Then came digital.
I don't care what anyone says I like a camera that is not like holding a credit card or a deck of cards I want something I can hold on to.
Some of those little things you can't even take a shot without your fingers and thumbs being on several buttons...
I hate to keep bringing this up but it isn't just that I am older I just like to put the camera up to my eye and see what I am shooting.
Just keep it. It looks alike a great camera to me.

Exactly! When it gets to the point that the camera is too small for a viewfinder, and you have to read the Owner's Manual to see where to position your fingers to keep them out of the way, something is wrong.

I find that I can hold a heavier camera much steadier. Holding a P&S out in front of me to see the LCD in the bright sun is just asking for a shaky image.

I agree the live View on my 40D never gets used for the same reason

I LLUUUUVVV the LiveView! I use it on the tripod to go in tight at 10x and focus on the sparkle int their eye!

One of the reasons I turned off my live view is that I can't really tell that the photo is focused or lighted right through them. So I turn it off.

I'm selling my Canon 40D DSLR with genuine Canon grip and Canon ESF 18-135mm IS lens. All three items are an absolute 9.8 condition with no blemishes or wear. Less than 7k clicks. I've got all the software disks, transfer cables, the boxes, the charger, the neck strap and manuals. I'll throw in the hand strap (pictured) as well as the David D. Busch manual that helps you take advantage of all the great features this camera has: 6.5 FPS Burst Shooting, Live View®, RAW capabilities, Remote Shooting from a laptop, etc. I've got six (6) batteries that will go with it, as well. The Canon firmware is up-to-date. This is an excellent pro-sumer camera for the photographer that's ready for an upgrade.

I've switched to a full frame camera and the EFS lens nor the Canon grip is not compatible with it. The "cropped" APS-C, that's in the 40D, allows for a wider variety of EF and EFS lenses. My price is firm and I'm not interested in any trades.

I'm asking $750 for everything. B&H wanted to give me $550.

$750??? Wow looks like I got a steal at $250 and only 800 clicks on it. (2 batteries and no grip, but still).

I'll rock my 40D till it dies.

It's amazing what an out-of-work photo-hobbyist will sacrifice when the going gets tough. Yeah, $250 for the 40D is a license to steal. Don't get me wrong: the 40D is a great camera. I was just curious why I saw so many photographers still using Canon's 30D and swearing by them, but never saw that same longevity with my model. Enjoy yours! I'll probably end up keeping mine.

I don't think he was out of work, just more money than sense. So don't feel bad for the guy.

The 40D has a huge following, I know when I see them listed they sell fast (in the $400-500 range). I honestly think you have it priced to high. If you really want to sell it, sell the accessories separately and price the body somewhere around $400.

Yeah, that sort of convinces me to keep it. Like I said earlier, a cropped sensor sure allows you to widen your lens options.

I've just ordered my new Canon 5D Mark II, upgrading from what I thought was a fine cropped sensor camera, Canon's 40D. I had watched photographers swear by their 30D's for years, so I bet on the 40D having the same kind of longevity as a tool of choice. Now, I'm trying to sell my 40D that is in mint condition with a genuine Canon grip, all the boxes, software, cables, etc., and I can't give it away. Why did this model crash and burn? The large LCD screen, the 6+ FPS Burst would seem to endear this model to the same level photographer as the 30D. Can anybody enlighten me?

B&H is in the position to resell gear, so there has to be some "meat on the bone" for them as well, good news is 40Ds are being snapped up as soon as they hit the market

Well, I'm not feeling like such a sucker about buying this model. I guess I keep it as a back up. Although I don't know why I'd need a backup since I don't shoot Bride-zillas or Bar Mitzvahs! Now to make room in my camera bag.

Bad things can happen to good people, good gear, happy times. I was shooting a car at a car show, a VERY RARE car. 61 XKE Convertible, I was shooting deown the body line for a Bokeh shot and a 10 year old 150 pound psycho brat slammed my head in to my camera driving my lens in to the bumper of the car, destryoiung my lens and puitting a quite noticeable mar in the finish of this classic car.
Not only did daddy have to pay for my 28-135 glass &trip to the shop for my 50-D,( it survived) he was on the hook for the repair of the bumper. I had my 60D and my 18-200 in the car,"just in case". I got to finish my shooting day, somewhat cranky but sucessfull.
If I had the extra on hand would buy a 40D ( but that would deplete my "next camera body fund" to an unsafe level.
Then again my daughter uses a rebel t2i and she is looking for a back up.
Hold on to it, It's paid for, it owes you nothing and it is a killer camera.

Yeah, I just have to find more room in my camera bag. Thanks for all the positive comments about the 40D.
