I used some of the techniques from this link. http://digitalphotobuzz.com/using-lightroom-brushes-to-soften-skin
What do you think?

Consider using Before and After shots. That's the only way we can see the difference. The After shot looks great.

I agree with Gordon. But she sure looks like she has soft skin in this photo. :)

Whatever you did certainly works. I think she might look more like herself and less like a porcelain doll if you dialed it back a little bit, though. When I first viewed it, I could almost feel the texture of a porcelain bisque doll. You know how to soften skin now though, that's for sure. An effective technique.

She's a lovely girl to begin with and she has youth on her side which is a major plus. She won't appreciate it until she's in her 50's; none of us did.

Personally, I think the After is just fine.

Personally, I would prefer something in between and maybe just a tad less exposure. Beautiful girl with great complexion so she really doesn't need a lot of help. Please don't take offense but I'd like to see your light source slightly higher (eye catchlights at about 10 or 2 o'clock position).

I'd have to agree here.

Naturally, we all have our own opinions which makes the world go around, but as far as adding another catch light to her eyes would be over-kill, IMHO. She already has 2 in each eye.

She is very beautiful, with great skin. In my opinion she needs a very light hand on the retouching. Nice photo, you did well.

He wasn't talking about adding another light, but adjusting one of them you have to either a 10 or 2 o'clock position.

I agree with the above. Move the catchlight. I love the touch-up. She's a beautiful girl and you did what the magazine photo editors do every day; made her look flawless. Isn't flawless what we would all love to look like if we could?

I think it is great. I am learning from all of you that it is truly about personal taste. There is no right or wrong. I appreciate all of the different views and expertise. Great job. I am starting to dabble in portraits too and like to see what others are doing
