These are just 'drop dead gorgeous'!!! You must have quite a relationship with that hawk for him to trust your presence.

You've chosen the right word Margo. It's all trust. Thank you.

It just doesn't get any better than this. I am so envious. I hope my Mississippi Kites will let me get closer this year as I managed a lot of trust from them last Summer.

I hope you're successful with the Kites as well. Good luck.

This is the second installment of my session with my favorite hawk. Since there were just the two of us neither one was disturbed in our quests. His was to eat and mine was to photograph. We were very close to one another and both of us were OK with that. In the first two images you'll see him in the air, the middle two are of him with his kill and the last two are close ups of his head only. To get that look I had to lay on the ground to be at his level. Though my decent to the snow was none too graceful, he never objected and never lost focus on what he was doing. I hope you enjoy these half as much as I did in taking them.
Thanks for looking in and remember, this is a wild hawk and not a captive.

Side note: Since they are quick downloads, I strongly urge you to look at the close ups in that format. You might like the detail.
This is the second installment of my session with ... (show quote)

Joe, you never cease to amaze me! These shots are beyond excellent! (Oh, and my decent to only one knee today in the park was totally ungraceful! lol).
