This is the second installment of my session with my favorite hawk. Since there were just the two of us neither one was disturbed in our quests. His was to eat and mine was to photograph. We were very close to one another and both of us were OK with that. In the first two images you'll see him in the air, the middle two are of him with his kill and the last two are close ups of his head only. To get that look I had to lay on the ground to be at his level. Though my decent to the snow was none too graceful, he never objected and never lost focus on what he was doing. I hope you enjoy these half as much as I did in taking them.
Thanks for looking in and remember, this is a wild hawk and not a captive.

Side note: Since they are quick downloads, I strongly urge you to look at the close ups in that format. You might like the detail.

Extraordinary. How close were you?
We have a red tailed hawk that hangs out over our fields but I've never been closer than 100 yards

The detail in the head-shots is wonderful Joe. But, Nos. 2 and 3 are a thrill to view.
That you and this guy have a rapport really shows in all these images.

Pierre

Thanks. The close ups were taken at roughly ten feet.

Thanks Pierre. I hope we really do have a rapport and I hope it lasts awhile longer.

I'm looking for a new superlative to use to describe these but most don't convey what I want to say. How about something simple like.... "Oh, WOW!!!
