9 stacked exposures approximately 35 sec each, can see what appear to be parallel sat trails(?) in 5 of the frames. M42 is my favorite to look at and image, always see something different it seems

Very nice photo. The trails are satellites in geosynchronous orbits. Usually these are communications satellites and are in orbits approximately 22,300 miles above the Earth. They orbit the Earth in roughly 24 hours so that they appear stationary. If you took the M-42 photo and did not track on the stars, the satellites would appear as point-like while the stars would have been trailed. In other words just the opposite of the photo you have here. Keep up the good work, please post more images.

Thanks for the kind words algol, and thanks for clearing up what the satellite trails are exactly. I thought they might be geosynchronous but just couldn't get my head wrapped around it .your explanation cleared it up for me

That is a beautiful image. Thanks for sharing! What did you take that with, through, or on?

Thanks for looking skylane. I use a 10" newtonian reflector with an atlas eq mount for accurate tracking , a canon 5dmk3 for imaging with Nebulosity 3 for stacking and initial processing Perfect Photo Suite 8 for final processing .

Thanks for the info. I live less than an hour from Carl Zambuto and it's my dream to buy one of his mirrors and build my own and retire somewhere where there are no clouds...
