Check the compass in the corner....LOL
Actually, morning clouds tend to have more definition, evenings clouds are often more windswept from daylight solar heating, but there is really no sure way to tell if you don't know anything about the photo.

Easy.

If it's going down into the water/horizon it's a sunset.

If it's coming up out of the water/horizon it's a sunrise.

Errrrrr

Sunrise: yellower, less haze.

Sunset: redder, more haze.

Cheers,

Get out a compass and see which it is facing.

Whoops! I see MT Shooter beat me to it.

I find sunsets to be of a warmer color. I live west of Lake Michigan so I get lots of sunrises.

It looks like everyone as confused as I am in differentiating Sunset from Sunrise, lets a take test tell me which one is Sunset and which one is Sunrise?

1 looks like sunset, 2 looks like sunrise. But no way to tell for sure.

#1 sunrise
#2 sunset

I think the first one is a sunrise because of the way the light is hitting the clouds.

I am not sure if I can honestly tell the difference. I have both sunrises and sunsets that have very vivid colors. I agree that the clouds on some are different, but I have some images taken from the same location of sunrises and sunsets that I find very hard to determine other than I know by what is in the foreground.
