Folks, I've been trying to photograph an elusive Titmouse that frequents my feeder. Then this guy landed...I nearly crapped. What was great was that I was ready for a change. This was an early morning shot. The sun had just come up to give me pretty lighting. Does anyone know what kind of bird this is?

Likely a House Finch, which are common throughout the U.S.

Gorgeous shot, James! Not a titmouse but a really nice shot of a house finch methinks.

Definitely a house finch or a purple finch, but my money is on the male house finch. Good shot. I have them at my bird feeder all winter up here and love to see their bright color on gloomy days.

Thank you Kindly everyone for commenting and ID'ing this fella. He's new to my feeder, so I was pretty excited. One thing to note also, is the frost that was on the twig during the night is now melting...giving it a glossy look.

James, you've outdone yourself! This is one of the most beautiful captures of a little bird that I can recall. The lighting is so perfect!

Good to hear from you Richard. Yea, I got up early just for the light. At this time I can get the birds well exposed and have dramatic backgrounds. You gotta break down and get a digital camera soon Richard and jump in on the fun.

James, what a great capture !! Very sharp image, it is like 3D, I was just out for a walk, it's quite warm, supposed to hit 77 today. The Robins that were here probably decided it was too warm and flew back north a bit. The quality of this photo makes me ask about your camera and lens info, very well done !!
