Great pictures, I just love American Kestrels. There are two at the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program which we use for educational purposes. The are so much fun to handle. Both are female and are permanently disabled.

Billy, I normally look for a high contrasting area of the bird to focus and it normally near the bird's head. In low light I have a hard time focusing this manual 500mm lens with the Teleconverter. Arnold

I would like to know what you point of focus is when using such a long lens with a teleconverter. I really admire all of your bird shots.
Makes sense when you're looking to get as much clarity and contrast as possible 1.4 equates to something like a 750mm lens doesn't it? Just trying to learn as much as possible.

[quote=Adubin]Gayle, Watermark/Copyright will and cannot stop a person from copying it from the Internet and possibly using for profit. I normally put low resolution copy, with my info embedded EXIF data, Watermark/Copyright on the photo. This may slow them down, but will not stop them from downloading my photos from the Internet. Yep, didn't stop me! LOL...Just kidding Arnold. Beautiful pics once again. My first thought was how did you get those Kestrals to sit, but I see that Phocus already asked that...what was he sitting on? All of my shots of them are on telephone wires...yuck.

First one seems just a wee bit off focus to me. I like the second one!

Poltergeezer, Thank you very much for your feedback. Now that I look at the first one again, it looks wee bit off of focus to me too. Arnold
