now what position on selective dial in
is lens in auto focus... sounds like its in auto
no because i'm try to shoot close-up or macro thanks for your help
Dirt pusher what happened?I can dial my aperture to what ever i want on all my lens except my micro 85mm which seems to set itself and i'm on manual? I am totally confused.
there is a guy here thats good on macro see if i can drag him over. i'm over my head now
I really don't think the auto focus will have any effect on the aperture.
I've never seen this happen in full manual mode. Try removing the lens and wiping off the electrical contacts to make sure they are clean, then re-attach the lens (do all this with camera powered off).
I cleaned them as you suggested and it still won't go to 3.5 it is now stuck on 4.8 all my other lens work fine i'm beginning to think something is wrong with my lens?
Sounds like it to me. Is it a new lens in warranty, or an older one? Contact the UHH member rjriggins11 - he does camera repairs; he may be able to help you out.
Its a new one under warranty still i guess i'll contact them thanks for all your help every one
when your lens is focused to far distance, it should read f/3.5. As you focus closer, the lens length physically changes, which also changes your actual focal length. At the same time, the physical aperture does not change, but the ratio between aperture diameter and focal length changes, causing aperture ratio to increase from 3.5 to 4.8 or whatever.
