It is a 54. The 53 had one goose neck tail light mounted on the driver side cargo door.

The Nomad was shown in Show form in 1953 and was based on the Corvette as a sport wagon. This Nomad was only a concept (experimental) car in 1953//54.

The Nomad then came out in 1955 as a Sport Wagon and was consumed by the public in the years 1955 thru 1957. Also, the NOMAD was not simply a two door wagon, but was distinguished by the distinctive wide sloping "B" pillar behind the two doors.

The vehicle shown in the original post is based on the 1953 or 1954 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery. I can't see the taillight chrome quite well enough to determine the actual year. If there is a protruding tip at the top of the chrome bezel, then it is a 1954. The 1953 had a symmetrical chrome. In addition, the chrome on the headlight of the 1954 protruded slightly forward at the top. The 1953 headlight chrome was simply round top and bottom.

The first Nomad concept car based on the earliest 1954 six cylinder Corvette never made production. The roadster sold to the public, but not the wagon concept. Show car only.

Cars are always fun...closeup are nice in conjunction with a nice perspective (like the red Nomad). Closeup details like logos, taillights, hood ornaments, body contours always show a vehicle off. Fun stuff! Keep sharing.
