Loc: Florida's East Coast
Just returned from a week in Monteverde. Walking with a guide in the cloudforests at night gives a whole different perspective. The birds are roosting (so if you see them, you only see their underbelly!) and other animals become active. It can be hard to find them, but you have to be patient and walk slowly and quietly... And whenever in the rainforest you never reach out and touch anything.

Wow! I wish I could go with you! These are places I'll never see in person. But I am planning on going back to Maine for vacation & hopefully some moose & puffin photos. Thanks for posting!

Great plan - I would recommend spending a week based in Bar Harbor or nearby Ellsworth and spend a lot of time in Acadia NP and also "downeast" - east down HW 1 to the fishing villages of Jonesport and Lubec, and the great lighthouses at Lubec and across the bridge on Campobello Island NB (bring your passport). You have to go offshore to find puffins - there is a great Puffin tour out of Cutler. The trip is very weather dependent, and you might need Dramamine! FYI - see my video at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVs0lDwVjNUThe bad news - since they started hunting moose, they have become very hard to find! I even took my family up to Baxter State Park last year - where they used to be as thick as mosquitoes - and we didn't see even one!
Wow what a wonderful photo opportunity. The colours look amazing especially for night shots.
