carolina, what a great series of mixed birds. The detail of the feathers on some of them are tack sharp. Well Done!! Is this a new camera setup for you ?

Thank you redford...I really appreciate that! Fairly new...I had my 300mm prime lens for awhile...but attached it to a Canon 7-D that was purchased not to long ago.

Excellent series! I feel so sorry for those birds being out in the cold and they look so cute! But Mother Nature takes good care of them.

Thank you Photo Girl...I'm really glad you liked them...and yes the poor babies sure looked cold!

Jan, these are excellent as always! I've been wondering where you were; missed your beautiful bird pictures! I saw a tree full of robins today! Couldn't believe it! One perched on top of a little tree but I couldn't get to my camera quickly enough; only had my point and shoot with me.

Thank you Sue for your kind words...I'm so glad you liked them! Sorry you missed those Robin photos...wonder if those tree full of Robins are sorry they stuck around...especially after 2 bouts with the Polar Vortex ;-)

Hi there you have some great bird photo's really nice. They are composed very good and very clear and sharp.
To keep your lens dry and camera if you have a lens hood or posibably a haze or sky light filter put it on and take a plastic bag big enough you can work your camera in cut a hole big enough to slip over the lens and take a rubber band and put it around the plastic bag and the lens hood. A lens hood is best as it is wider and easier to put the rubber band around both. If you had and extra hood you could evan tape the bag on. Just and idea I have used before. One of the things they do with rifle scopes to keep them from fogging up is they let them get cold so they are normalized to the outside cold tempratures. The bag should help with that to as you can kind of fix the bag so you don't breath on your equipment.
Again very nice photo's and you have a great day.

Thanks for the info Jan, think I am going to invest in a prime. Things have changed for me. I am no longer in Antigua but currently in Moscow, Russia. Definitely NOT balmy!! Current temp is -17!!! LOL!! But until recently it has been warmer here than at home in NC!!

Oh my...and here I am complaining about moving North...thinking you are enjoying balmy weather  I know we are both missing North Carolina...but what a great opportunity for you! Just think of all the great new photo opps that are waiting for you to discover!!! I think you would love a prime lens...keep in touch and let me know what prime you decide to purchase.
