Very very good shots!!

Thank you so much, rlaugh! I'm catching on now to why there are so many snowbirds in Florida feathered or not!

Fantastic images,Kerfree! The colors are just exceptional and compositions are wonderful. And I am so glad you posted the narrative, so educational, and informative. Otherwise I'd have been alarmed that you caught me just out of the shower this a.m. Must be my twin living in Florida (she has the better looking legs).

Carly Sue, thanks for the laugh! Sadly, my bad hair days don't look anywhere near that good - so you are in very good shape! And we won't even talk about legs. :) Glad you enjoyed them and thanks for the pat on the back.

Very beautiful, Kerry! And thanks for the information; it's always that much more enjoyable to get some background. I particularly like the last one - for the light and the water patterns.

I appreciate your taking time to let me know your thoughts and for your encouragement. Thank you! Maybe next time I can get the lighting and color in the last and the pose in the first!

This is a gorgeous bird, even on bad hair days! I am content with my camera equipment most days, but just this once did I ever hanker for one of those monster L lenses nearly as long as I am tall! I was pushing the limits of my Panasonic GH3 with my longest lens, 100-300mm (equivalent to full frame 300-600mm). Except for the last one, these suffered severe cropping. Post-processing advice is most welcome.

The Reddish Egret is the rarest wading bird in the U.S., and is a highly specialized feeder ecologically restricted to a very narrow coastal habitat that is vulnerable to human impacts. The Florida population is estimated to be 350-400 pairs. (Information from the Avian Research and Conservation Institute) I guess Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge must be one of their favorite places!

It sure does make my day, when I see one, kerfree, unfortunately I don't see them enough. I have only seen one in the last 4 months, but at least we are lucky to live in an area where we have that opportunity, again, great shots, thanks for sharing
