Folks, here are the remains of Walter Hill Hydroelectric dam. Built in the early 1900's. There is not a lot of information that I can find on this place. I happened to catch it when the east fork of the Stones River (seen here) is really raging. We had a lot of rain lately, so the water is really up and moving.

Yea, Wahawk, been lucky lately. Now get this...My wife and I have driven past this place at least a dozen times. If your not looking for it...you'll drive right by. Today, it caught my attention and we found a little road that leads down to it. Right behind the brick building is US Highway 231. There is just a small opening in the woods to see it when driving by.

One of the advantages of "exploring" the backroads during the winter when the foliage doesn't obscure these scenes! Then if they are properly noted/mapped for later, can make great points to return to during the other seasons!

Yea I was out in the picture a bit John. I waded out a bit to get this low perspective. Didn't chance going to far thou...the water had quite a bit of speed to it.

Awesome shot, James! Way to get into the picture - very dedicated to wade out the, even a little bit. Too bad you didn't have your flyrod with you! :)

You and me both...I'm getting to old to be crawling around like that. It was a dangerous, stupid move on my part. But I just get so excited looking for a unique view.

At least have your wife tie a rope with one end tied around your waist and the other tied to the car or a sturdy tree. :-P

I don't care rope for this reason...the wife might just tie me up to the tree, take the camera and get all the good shots.
