An interview with alissaspieces,

1) How long have you been into photography and what got you started?
I started about a year and a half ago when I took a trip to Italy. I was inspired by this beautiful trip and took lots of pictures without knowing much about photography. When I got home I bought my first DSLR and started to learn.

2) Have you had any formal training and what kind of photography do you do most?
I have taken classes through a local college and a local photography store. I suppose at this point I am in an experimental mode, so I practice landscape, portrait, etc.

3) What inspired you to take your winning shot?
I was actually inspired by a beautiful winter shot that I saw here on UH. The first day that it snowed in NY I went out hoping to try to capture a winter scene like the one that I saw.

4) What equipment did you use and was there any special setup?
I used my nikon d7100 and my sigma 17-50 f2.8 lens.

5) Would you change anything if you could do it again?
Well, this is a funny questions as I posted this photograph here on UH and asked the same question. I even asked others to play with the photo and see what they could come up with. I did a lot of changing, cropping, colorizing and in the end I actually decided that I preferred this version of my photograph, which was my original!

6) If you couldn't do photography what else would you do?
I really don't know...this is such a new hobby for me and I am enjoying learning and growing so much.

7) Is there somewhere we can see more of your work?
I do post some of my work on viewbug.com

An interview with mcdykes,

1) How long have you been into photography and what got you started?
I began my career as a high school librarian in 1964 which morphed into a media specialist in the early 70's with responsibilities such as photography for multi-projector slide show productions.

2) Have you had any formal training and what kind of photography do you do most?
My graduate studies in library media included courses in photography, slide show production, advertising design, and television production. I have judged local and state school media festivals. I do wildlife, flowers, sunrises, sunsets, landscapes, etc.

3) What inspired you to take your winning shot?
I love the challenge of photographing wildlife in the act of living their lives.

4) What equipment did you use and was there any special setup?
I used a Canon EOS Rebel T3i with a Sigma 150-500mm lens - no special setup.

5) Would you change anything if you could do it again?
I would have done more photography. I slacked off on photography for a number of years and have gotten back into it in the last three years.

6) If you couldn't do photography what else would you do?
Photography was not my primary profession, but it has become my primary hobby. Other hobbies and recreations have included tennis, jogging, and cross stitch. I love being creative!

7) Is there somewhere we can see more of your work?
