according to canonrumors.com the ratings on resellerratings are fakes and posted by overstockdigital, if you look at other review sites it is not as favorable.

Annie Girl,
I tried searching canonrumors.com and came up with nothing regarding "ratings on resellerratings are fakes and posted by overstockdigital". The only hit was a suggestion to use resellerratings.com to check out the Google auto ads which are placed on canonrumors.com. I even checked the forum section. Where did you find that post on canonrumors.com?

Hi I am looking to get a 1 of 3 cameras either the CANON 1D MK IV or Canon 5D MKIII or Canon 7D MK II. My question is has anyone bought from OverstockedDigital.com???? It shows with a 1YR USA Warranty on all cameras.

I also looked at these clowns and found out that they are located around the corner from the Whitehouse in DC
in a medical office park. Seems any thing located near the hub of sin and lies should not be trusted!

Thanks for the link. I was searching "resellerratings.com" and should have used "overstockdigital".

As with any user rating site it is always best to read the ratings carefully (while trying to discern the poster's agenda). All ratings are opinions of the poster and as such are inherently biased.

overstocked DIGITAL is not listed as an authorized Canon dealer, Overstocked.com is. I would stay away.

I have been told by a friend that if buy brand new anything Nikon from an unauthorized dealer my warranty is void and I can figure on paying for any repairs myself. They said NEVER by from an unauthorized dealer. Is this true?

FYI, there is no medical office park around the corner from the Whitehouse. There are some references to a “1455 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suite 400, Washington DC 20004” address associated with “Overstock Digital” or “OverstockDigital.com” however, I don’t know where this info itself comes from since there is no mention of it on the OverstockDigital website that I can find.

In any event, even if valid, that PA Ave. address is one of several “virtual offices" in the Willard building that anyone can rent (e.g. http://www.davincivirtual.com/loc/us/district-of-columbia/washington-virtual-offices/facility-410 not this outfit’s physical location, wherever that may be :)

Could be a SCAM, you never know. Sell you a camera, taking your money and all you will have is less money. Happens everyday. I am not implying this is the case but you never know. Especially if verification is difficult or impossible. I personally would not chance it. Stay with someone you know. B&H, Adorama ect ..... because there is no reason not to. Unusually low prices are that way for a reason and that reason is usually dubious.

I don't get warm and fuzzies when looking at their prices as they are at or below wholesale and below the prices set by Canon USA for authorized resellers.

The hassel isn't worth the few bucks saved.....B & H and Adorama are the go to venders IMO.

Indeed. ;)

They do sell you cameras with a one year "STORE" warranty, but good luck in getting service, its definitely NOT a Canon warranty. The biggest issue you will face in buying from them is that all the accessories, including the battery and charger, will be removed from the box forcing you to buy them separately if you need them. They are as big a waste of time as Ryther and Big Value and Best Buy Digital and all the other rip-off and bait-and-switch sites on the internet. Stay away or you will end up paying a LOT more than buying USA warranted gear from an authorized reseller in the US.

HI MT Shooter, that is what I wanted to hear, what you said ok well that took care of that. No prob now SO Im back to the other stores lol.........(good ones)

If it's not an authorized US dealer, then what you will get is a 'grey market' body, intended for sale outside the US, with no usable warranty, and typically without the required accessories (available at substantial extra cost).

I took a look at their 5dMkiii. They are offering it with a 18-55 lens in a kit for $2179. Truly an outstanding price. But I have a big problem with that offer. The 18-55 lens is a EF-S lens and will not work on a FF Canon like the 5DMkiii and in fact could physically damage the camera. Same with the 17-85 lens they offer in another kit. I have also heard bad things about them on another camera forum. Personally I would stay away.
