I was at a friends cottage and rose early to get some sunrise shots, but the sun came up to my right behind the trees and gave a nice glow over the water and lit the Island Mist

One of many shots that I like from 2013

Wow!

How 'bout a thread of what you consider your best shot of the year past?

Doesn't have to be award-winning, doesn't matter if you've already posted it. I'd just like to see what folks here consider their numero unos for 2013. Here's mine.

Happy New Year to everyone, and thanks for the memories of 2013!

Great shot!

I don't think that I have a single favorite. I chose this one because I had an image in mind before I got to the location, worked the composition as best I could in camera, and then did some pp to come up with the finished product

While not what I would call the best or the most interesting there was just something about this one that said pick me pick me.
I was out before sunrise and got some moon shots , sun behind trees and many birds on the river.

I don't have a best shot Treepusher, I just have shots. Some interesting, some not so much. But I'll share one with you.
By the way, I love the cat shot.

Happy New Year to you, Randy - and all the wonderful folks on UHH!

It'd be too hard to choose a critter favorite so I'm going with the only cityscape I shot this year: Seattle.

How about stating best shot without any post processing ?
The way I see it is if it required any post processing it really wasn't your best shot after all .

I don't know about the "best shot" of last year, but this one is the most poignant for me.

A heartfelt Thank You to all the Hedgehogs for your support when I first posted it.

A big Thank You to Randy for teaching me the finer points of cat photography and the intricacies of post processing.

I wish everyone a great New Year and all the best.

While that may be true when doing still life in a controlled environment such as a studio, Nature sometimes doesn't deal you a good hand.
When you get a "once in a lifetime shot from the hip", a bit of processing just might save that memory from the trash bin. Besides, it's fun experimenting!!
All the best for the New Year!!

I like living in the country where you can hang rusty stuff on a fence and call it art...
The others are ones I personally like.
Happy New Year to all.
