Here is my favorite one of the year. I took it during the 4th of July parade.

How about stating best shot without any post processing ?
The way I see it is if it required any post processing it really wasn't your best shot after all .

Thanks for your thoughts on this, Dooragdragon.

I think for the purposes of this thread, it's not about the technical issues, and whether or not you process things. It's just about which photo you took this past year that either moved you the most, or you thought was your best effort, processed or not. The shot that you'd pick, if you could show only one of your photos. And I'm not trying to limit anyone to only a single photo here, but you get the idea.

Not always an easy choice, is it?

BTW, already have seen some fantastic photos posted here, and thanks to all who've contributed!

Great Idea Randy...I've had such a good year taking photos, it was hard for me to decide. Can't wait for next year! But, I finally picked this one. All the photo's I've seen on this thread are all excellent. I'm really impressed...we've got a bunch of really great photographers on this site. Your photos have all been exciting to look at here on this thread and on your own posts as well. Well done everyone!
Ok, Folks...Happy New Year and Happy Shooting in 2014

Thank you, like many others I have way to many to choose from, so I narrowed my choices down to the last few months where I felt that I had progressed to manual settings, remembering to check my exposure meter for under/overexposure, focus and modes and trying to avoid distracting wires etc if possible without losing my main subject, deciding weather or not to add contrast and cropping , a very hard choice from thousands of photo's to pick just 1.

I don't know about the "best shot" of last year, but this one is the most poignant for me.

A heartfelt Thank You to all the Hedgehogs for your support when I first posted it.

A big Thank You to Randy for teaching me the finer points of cat photography and the intricacies of post processing.

I wish everyone a great New Year and all the best.

This is a photo of my beloved Freckles taken a few years ago with a canon power shot A570 IS , the effect was created by placing a piece of frosted scotch tape over the lens with a pin hole opening.
I lost her September 17 th of this year, she would have been 14 years old tonite so I share your loss of your precious pet.

How 'bout a thread of what you consider your best shot of the year past?

Doesn't have to be award-winning, doesn't matter if you've already posted it. I'd just like to see what folks here consider their numero unos for 2013. Here's mine.

Happy New Year to everyone, and thanks for the memories of 2013!

It may not be my best, but I still love this picture. It was a hot day and he was just cooling his head. Hope you like it

Just cooling off!

Thanks for contributing to the thread, James. A great photo! So many excellent photos here, I hope others aren't being intimidated and afraid to post. This is just for fun, not a competition.

So many photos get posted on UHH every day, no way we can see them all, and I hoped we could catch some of the ones we've missed here on this thread.

Happy New Year!

If you love it, that's just what I wanted to see posted here, Mary. And it's a great shot! Very typical cat behavior, a perfect example, and brought a smile. Thanks for contributing!
