This is my Golden Retriever mix, Murphy. I adopted him from the local pound 5 years ago. Today, he became my hero. One of my kitties managed to sneek out of the house 2 days ago. I called and called for her but she didn't appear and I, of course, worried more and more about her since she is an indoor kitty and a little on the pudgy side. I even went to the pound to see if she had been picked up or turned in.All I could think of were all the things that could happen to her.
Then, this morning I put Murphy out and was telling the Diva Siamese how upset I was when Murphy started barking. I went to see what he was barking about and he was looking into a neighbor's back yard and wagging his tail. With a spark of hope, I started calling again and in a couple of seconds she started meowing and strolled out of the neighbor's shed. I lured her to the fence, scruffed her, pulled her up and over and ran for the house. After several minutes of hugging and crying I let her down to be inspected by the other kitties. It dawned on me that if Murphy hadn't barked when he saw her, she might have wandered off not knowing how close to home she was and I might never have seen her again. I went out the door and gave him lots of hugs and kisses then brought him extra treats for a job well done.
And that is how Murphy became my hero.
(Kitty is fine. She was tired and thirsty and hungry. After a long nap, she was back to her old self.)
I took this picture a couple of days ago. No c&c necessary...just wanted to share.
