Nice ending story, glad you have a hero and your kitty back.

Thank you for reading my story and commenting. I've told Cissy repeatedly that she had me very worried. I know she's happy she's home but twice I caught her heading for the door as I go out. I am watching much more closely when I go out.

Murphy knows how it feels to be homeless and he didn't want her to be in that situation....what a good boy!

Thank you for reading and commenting. I don't know how long he had been at the pound but his previous owner traded him for a pit bull. I love pit bulls but I don't understand how they could give up this sweet, sweet boy.

Thank you for reading and commenting. My pets are very special to me. They have gotten me thru some very rough times and I don't know what I would do without them.

I received two of the best presents. Cissy coming home and a dog at the shelter where I volunteer, who had been there 8 years and I absolutely loved, was adopted.

I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas!!

A sweet story and beautiful dog. One of our beloved cocker spaniels was named Murphy. Thanks for sharing this, Debbie.

Thank you for taking the time to read it and to comment. Wish you could meet him, he is just a great guy. He has been enjoying everyone's comments and knows he did a good thing. He is going to the groomer tomorrow...she wants to give him a spa day for finding Cissy.

There are a couple of cockers that come to the store where I work and they are so gorgeous and get so excited when they see me cause I have to spoil every dog that comes in the door. Thanks again.

Murphy you are the greatest and so darn cute! Thanks for letting Mom know that Cissy was out there! You deserve a steak! Hugs to you! :)

Thanks, Mary! He didn't get a steak but he did lots of extra treats and his favorite canned dog food added to his dry.

Hugs to you and yours!!

Great ending to a scary story. Good job Murphy, you are truly a hero.

Thank you for reading my story and commenting. I was very scared. Cissy is about 7 years old (I am her 4th owner but I am her forever owner) and she's on the pudgy side. She can't quite make it onto the kitchen counter and I was worried she wouldn't be able to get away from an unfriendly dog or get over a fence to get home. She definitely did some traveling; her little paws were sore and she lost a couple of pounds but she is unharmed and home and I am grateful.

I have been reading the comments to Murphy and he wags his big fluffy tail; he knows it's all about him. Thanks again!

Nice photo and great story. My dog Slider, on the other hand tried to eat a $20.00 bill last week. The other day, he drank a cup of coffee when nobody was looking and went nuts! He ran amok for about 8 hours and finally crashed hard.
He's fine now, but we bust out laughing every time we think of the crazy stuff he did while on a caffeine high.
I'm happy to hear that some people have a 'normal' dog.

Murphy is a sweet boy. I took him to work so the groomer could give him a bath and a trim and he had to greet every one in the store. When he was all nice and pretty I took him out front for a new collar and he had to greet all the new people and show off his Christmas bandana. A few got to hear about him helping to locate Cissy so they made an even bigger fuss over him. He loved every minute.

Thank you for reading his story and commenting! Have a Merry Christmas!! Murphy sends kisses to your goldens.

I don't know that I'd call him normal but he is a sweetheart. It sounds like Slider is quite adventurous. I bet he was wired for sound after the coffee. Murphy has enough energy without getting into coffee. At least you know there will always be entertainment with Slider around.

By the look on your kitty's face I guess he isn't to thrilled about the dog.

Thank you for looking and sharing your adventure with your special guy. Have a very Merry Christmas!! Murphy sends kisses to Slider!!

This is my Golden Retriever mix, Murphy. I adopted him from the local pound 5 years ago. Today, he became my hero. One of my kitties managed to sneek out of the house 2 days ago. I called and called for her but she didn't appear and I, of course, worried more and more about her since she is an indoor kitty and a little on the pudgy side. I even went to the pound to see if she had been picked up or turned in.All I could think of were all the things that could happen to her.

Then, this morning I put Murphy out and was telling the Diva Siamese how upset I was when Murphy started barking. I went to see what he was barking about and he was looking into a neighbor's back yard and wagging his tail. With a spark of hope, I started calling again and in a couple of seconds she started meowing and strolled out of the neighbor's shed. I lured her to the fence, scruffed her, pulled her up and over and ran for the house. After several minutes of hugging and crying I let her down to be inspected by the other kitties. It dawned on me that if Murphy hadn't barked when he saw her, she might have wandered off not knowing how close to home she was and I might never have seen her again. I went out the door and gave him lots of hugs and kisses then brought him extra treats for a job well done.

And that is how Murphy became my hero.

(Kitty is fine. She was tired and thirsty and hungry. After a long nap, she was back to her old self.)

I took this picture a couple of days ago. No c&c necessary...just wanted to share.

You are absolutely 100% correct about Slider being entertaining and Tucker, my avatar kitty who is just as mischievous as Slider, being less than delighted about have a dog around.
Slider would love to play with Murphy and sends him a big sloppy wet kiss.
We have obviously been blessed with special pets. Merry Christmas to you, your family, Murphy & the kitties.

I really am blessed with special pets!!! Murphy sends wet kisses to Slider. I hope you and yours had a good Christmas. Here, Santa delivered toys and their favorite canned foods then as many as could piled on me for a nap while I watched a favorite movie. It was rather warm under all those furry little bodies. Murphy was outside with his new toys burying them, digging them up and throwing them around. It was a good Christmas!!
