This is my Golden Retriever mix, Murphy. I adopted him from the local pound 5 years ago. Today, he became my hero. One of my kitties managed to sneek out of the house 2 days ago. I called and called for her but she didn't appear and I, of course, worried more and more about her since she is an indoor kitty and a little on the pudgy side. I even went to the pound to see if she had been picked up or turned in.All I could think of were all the things that could happen to her.

Then, this morning I put Murphy out and was telling the Diva Siamese how upset I was when Murphy started barking. I went to see what he was barking about and he was looking into a neighbor's back yard and wagging his tail. With a spark of hope, I started calling again and in a couple of seconds she started meowing and strolled out of the neighbor's shed. I lured her to the fence, scruffed her, pulled her up and over and ran for the house. After several minutes of hugging and crying I let her down to be inspected by the other kitties. It dawned on me that if Murphy hadn't barked when he saw her, she might have wandered off not knowing how close to home she was and I might never have seen her again. I went out the door and gave him lots of hugs and kisses then brought him extra treats for a job well done.

And that is how Murphy became my hero.

(Kitty is fine. She was tired and thirsty and hungry. After a long nap, she was back to her old self.)

I took this picture a couple of days ago. No c&c necessary...just wanted to share.

That was a great job well done. Made me cry. Any one who loves animals understands what you were feeling. So glad she is back home where she belongs.

Thank you for looking and commenting. Murphy is a very good boy and he really showed how much he loves his kitties. I am very proud of him and he has been getting the royal treatment. I don't know what I would do without my pets. The are there to greet me when I come home and they always want to be with me and are always there when I need them. Thanks again!

Murphy says "thank you!" He loves hugs and kisses and all kinds of attention. Cissy (missing kitty) is well rested and back to herself. I adopted her from a local rescue group. I am her 4th home and I told the lady that runs the group that unless something happens to me, this is her forever home. I fell in love with her for her very loving personality and was trying to decide between her and a kitty with deformed ears and mouth (I am a real sucker for the handicapped kitties) and finally decided to take them both. They are both loving and sweet and I don't regret my decision.

Murphy is a really great dog and Cissy (missing kitty) is one of his buddies. I have come home many times to find her sleeping on top of his wire crate. You think she would be uncomfortable but that is where she likes to be. On several occasions I have seen Murphy reach up and lick her toes to tease her and I've seen her reach in to play with his ears.

Cissy is back to normal and Murphy has been getting the royal treatment. His groomer (where I work) was so happy about his efforts that he will be going in Monday for a spa day.

Thank you for looking and commenting!! Like most animal people these guys are my kids. I look after them but they look after me, too. I was so worried about her and am so happy she's home and safe. I bought her a new collar with a bell and added the bell from her old collar which she wasn't happy about. I told her she was lucky I didn't get her a cow bell that not only would I hear but would be so big and heavy she wouldn't be able to move! Thanks again!!
