Can anyone else see it?
I'm now on FireFox (was on Chrome) and there's no indication of a pic anywhere. Yet I see them in other threads.

EDIT: Now I know what's wrong.
You didn't *post* a pic HERE.
You put in a link to an image on SmugMug.
My work net-nanny won't let me go there.
Or even show the link.

I have a babysitter on my PC during the day as well. That must be the issue.

To get what your see in your mind's eye, you will most likely have to add some light, usually from a flash, set pretty low, set for rear-curtain trigger (so the light from the flash comes at the end of the exposure), and off-camera if possible.

You might also try some light painting (using a handheld light like a flashlight and sweep it over a portion of the subject during the exposure.

Very good, that is exactly what I am going to try next! And I have some soft LED Christmas floodlights I am going to try to put into the center of the tree. Wish I would have thought of that before adding all the decorations...

Try the rule of thirds for the full tree.
Try shots that are not the full tree but small sections, get up close and focus on an ornament with a shallow depth of field to give it that fuzzy warm look.
If DOF is too shallow, back up and zoom in.
Merry Christmas.

Not bad, I usually do a few of those each year. I will try harder this year!

All of your shots are just fine. Thanks for the 'How To DO' advise.

No problem...I've usually run into similar scenarios at some point in time myself whenever someone asks a question like, "how do I...".

I've only been shooting since 2007 (as a dedicated hobby). Being able to go back and track my images through smugmug (if they're not on my hard drive) and review the EXIF data also helps jog my memory.

Wall-E, yep, I see all of the pictures just fine.
Do you wear glasses?
You didn't get them mixed up with your Ladies did yoU?
Just kidding.
I see the Really Great picture of the tree and very well wrapped gifts under the tree.
Merry Christmas to you too!

Hello fellow photographers,

Once again this time of year I find myself frustrated trying to capture the beauty and emotion of the Christmas tree inside our house. In my mind's eye I see it as a warm glow of lights with the ornaments in sharp detail.

Are there any tricks/ideas out there for this type of shot other than tripod, slow shutter speed/bulb and manual focus? I don't like to do a lot of post processing but I would be willing try some easier steps in this case.

As mentioned, I will award a magnificent No Prize to the first Handsome Hedgehogger who helps me properly capture my dream!

Many thanks,
Blue
Hello fellow photographers, br br Once again this... (show quote)

Since you're offering a No Prize, I'll take a shot at it. Digital Photography School has some good tips.
