Great choice in cameras! I'm sure you'll love it. But, unfortunately, it might not be compatible with the lens you're holding up in your avatar.

Haha, you're right - not sure whether I should have got a bigger camera or perhaps buy a smaller lens. Cheers, Bob

I have had mine for about 3 wks now. Still cant seen to focus right. Did call canon and they helped me but still didnt work, so Canon had me reset camera and then it DID work. But now it is not again. Maybe you have a hint for me. Ihave read the the bk, watched the youtube shows but..... How are you doing? Love the camera Just wish I was catching on faster. Moved from 40D

I moved from 50d so not a dissimilar move. I haven't really used it properly yet as I only received it this morning but messing around in doors it seems fine. I'm just trying to decide whether to keep the 50d or not. I will for the time being but just wonder whether I'll ever want to put the 5d down.

Bob, welcome to the Hog.
Don't get a smaller lens, get a bigger camera.
A camera big enough yo go with your lens, will have a humungous sensor. Bigger is always better(so says my wife), when it comes to sensors.
I'm jealous.
I have a big lens I converted from a beer keg. It always shoots a little blurry, but has just enough beer still in it to keep me happy.
Have fun !!

I don't have a Canon, but I'd love to learn more about them. Without going too much into detail, what is the difference between the 50d and the 5d? Is it that on is full size sensor and the other is cropped?

I thought focusing was supposed to be the problem with the D800. Now you're saying it's a problem with the 5DMkIII? Are you sure you aren't a Nikon spy sent to confuse us?

about the same as comparing a skateboard with a car. Single digits are how canon numbers their top cameras, the 1d, 1ds being their flagship.

Actually, it would be a better comparison to compare that motorcycle he is resting his tush on, to a Vespa. ;-)
