Aperture versus Lightroom 5

I have both Aperture & Lightroom 5 & Photoshop 5. I use Mac and am a retired Wedding Photographer of 50 years in business.
I do not use any of the above software, since I have sent work needing post corrections to professional labs in the past. I now would like to learn Aperture or Lightroom, as a hobby. Which is the simplest learning curve to go? Your info, would be deeply appreciated. BV

Can't help with aperture, but there are lots of Lightroom tutorials in the PP section, also quite a few guys and gals who understand how it works.

I tried both and settled on Lightroom after trying both as I found LR more intuitive. As Searcher said there are so many sources of information for LR when you have a question- I'll add another to the list of good sources of information for LR- Adobe TV. Good luck whichever you choose. ;)

I switched from Windows to Mac four years ago. Decided to go with Aperture rather than Elements for Mac. No regrets about either switch. My only complaints about Aperture is that it occasionally freezes the computer if too many changes are made too quickly. As I've no desire for the bizarre special effects such as charcoal drawing, watercolor and so on, I've no compelling reason for elements. Found Aperture very intuitive. Didn't buy a book or look at tutorials for months as it is possible to figure much of the stuff out while playing with it on the computer.

I much prefer Aperture.
I took one on one at apple to understand how it works.
It does great with my RAW files and it has a proofing profile to calibrate to my printer.
But more importantly I learned to take photos that I don't have to change other than lighting as I tend to shoot on the dark side so I don't blow anything out.

I used iPhoto for quite some time, tried Aperture and then switched to LR5 which suits me and is easy to use. I'm still finding out all it can do and I'm sure it can do more than I will ever learn.

One more point in favor of Aperture. If you live near an Apple store, you can join their One to One program for $99 per year. This entitles you to unlimited half or one hour instructional sessions on any of their software, including Aperture. The level of instruction is excellent.
