Actually, I worked there for nine years as a tram driver/tour guide in the Mariposa grove of giant Sequoias. I would take up to 45 people at a time on an open air tram ride that was 7 miles long and an hour fifteen minutes. We made 12 camera stops and two ten minute stops where the passengers could get out and walk around.
Then last October I ended up in the hospital for three weeks in a diabetic coma for 2-1/2 of those. Drs said I wasn't going to make it and if I did I'd never walk again. Well, I'm still here, and I'm still walking, but now that I'm on insulin, I can't drive commercial vehicle anymore so I had to retire. And that's the last thing I wanted to do, that was my dream job.
I still live about an hour away from there and go up there often.

'Some day long from now
while hiking in Yosemite
I will lay down in the tall green grass
to close my eyes never to wake
with a smile on my face
as I will already be in Heaven!'

You are blessed, but take care and send photos! Steve

It was the most fun job I have EVER had in my life, and I've had plenty. Quite often a male passenger would tell me what a great job I had, then he would ask if it was a year round job. I would usually tell them that in the off season I was a photographer for Sports illustrated swim suit edition. Or I played a piano in a brothel. There were a few who I thought were going to start crying.
What did you do there?

Small world, isn't it? I recently ran into a guy at the local restaurant here in town. He was wearing a Joe Josts T-shirt. (Famous bar in LB) Anyway, we got to talking and it turned out we were old classmates and friends. He was my brothers age, and his brother was mine. We also lived two blocks apart in the same neighborhood. I would have never recognized him if it weren't for the Joe Josts T-shirt.
I also lived in the corner house on 54th and Orange for a short time.

I worked in Curry Village in a food place called "Degnan's Fast Foods. Pizza, fast-food, etc.... It was near the Ansel Adam's Gallery. I doubt it's there anymore.

In Long Beach As I recall. I lived on Gaviota just off of 60th & Orange. I know it was close to the Artesia Fwy. I worked as a waiter in a restaurant called Captain Charles' Seafood House-- it wasn't there very long.... I believe it might have been called "Welshes' before that.... around 45th & Del Amo?-- but not sure anymore--- it's been awhile....

Would it be appropriate in a Macro forum to say 'small world'
