In this country in more than 25 states a criminal can get out of prison on a Friday and buy an assault rifle, ammo, and clips without a background check. I do not think it is unreasonable for society to say that is unreasonable. I own hunting rifles, and used to belong to the NRA before they became complete whack jobs. I also own a fine shotgun, and a pistol I keep in the car while traveling, yet, like most gun owners I am in favor of more gun control. I also acknowledge it may not be possible with 300,000,000 guns in this country. Pistols really have one purpose: shooting people. Oh, I know there are specialized pistols used for hunting, but pistols are generally used for shooting people. Firearms are a public health issue, but Congressional Republicans, lapdogs for the NRA, have managed to prohibit both the CDC and the NIH from conducting ANY research on gun violence. Forever. Is that a reasonable way to have an intelligent discussion about gun violence in this country? And if those other objects, baseball bats, knives, etc. are such an effective way of deterring or perpetuating violence, why don't people use them instead of guns (to the tune of 20,000 gun deaths per year)? Before Congress banned research by the CDC and NIH on gun violence, it was determined that you were FOUR times more likely to be killed by your own gun in YOUR home than you were to repel an invader. Or, how about the guy who published all the research in the 90s that said people PREVENTED violence just by introducing a gun into a volatile situation? The famous sociologist, Otis Dudley Duncan, asked him for his research statistics. He said his grad student had the data. Then he said his hard drive crashed. Then it was revealed he COOKED up the whole thing. The research was all FRADULENT. He was the darling of the NRA before that!

He was not doing anything when he was killed, which is my point. Obviously you are selectively blind or selectively NOT blind(in reference. to Mr. Z), however you decide to look at yourself. Even if Mr. Z on his color biased justice thought Mr. T was "doing something" he was no judge, no jury, had no authority other than to call the police if he saw something. Having a gun does not give you a permit to pursue people "you think are doing something wrong" . Why do we have a justice SYSTEM? Just because of men like him, I could say. One person alone cannot decide and there are parameters to define offenses, to commit people to jail and judge them. Seldom to kill them.

But this post has turn a wrong turn. We should not be discussing a case or the lives of these two people because of a post of a gun. I just asked my photo to be put down and hasn't. If it is going to provoke a discussion of the gun laws and cases, I don't think that was the intent. At least not mine, but I had to respond to some of the outrageous comments. You will not here from me on this subject. Enough said.
