I would recomend that you spend a few bucks and get Photoshop elements. Look on ebay and you can get an older version for very little. 5 on up does most things. - Dave

Glad you like it. You will find PhotoScape super easy to use, and the various sub-programs are also valuable. For fun, try the "lens flare" feature in the filters section. You can place a light star anywhere in a photo, and adjust its size and intensity. I often use it to put a bit of emphasis in an appropriate picture. For instance, I had a glass of wine in a photo. the lens flare feature let me place a small white star on one edge of the glass. Made all the difference. Enjoy!

Hi,

can any one suggest me a good free photo editing tool to edit JPG / NEF file that are taken in my Nikon D 90?

I could not understand ViewNK that is given by Nikon.

Don't feel lonesome... I've got a Pentax D600. Still trying to figure out the software that came with it. The camera itself for that matter.

I used Gimp2. It's Auto color effect is a great learning tool.

F-16 - USAF Thunderbird. Shot at Air Show, Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, NV

Device Mfg / Model: Canon: Canon EOS REBEL T3i
Exposure Time: 1/1600 Second
Aperture / Fstop: F5.6
Focal Length (zoom): 250mm
ISO Speed: 200

For the Freehand/Tripod crowd, try to frame a 500mph jet while using a tripod.

I am learning to both make better decisions on my manual settings and better control of manual post production, but this was done after using Gimp 2.0 for only 30 minutes.

Picassa is a good if you are new to photo editing, but one that is probobly on your computer is Windows Office Picture Manager. It offers auto correct, cropping, color correction, a good brightness and contrast with brightness midtone and shadoow corrector. It is easy to use and very intuitive
