Bald Eagle from this afternoon.
You can't really see it well, but he actually has a small fish tucked tight under his tail. The eagle had just stolen the fish from an osprey that plucked it out of the marsh pond.

Our local eagles are quite lazy as well, I can't believe how they can just stand around in a tree for hours doing nothing when there are fish jumping all over in the marsh.
I guess it's easier to let the osprey do the work for you. :?

Thanks for looking and commenting!

Excellent point! Or as someone posted a little while back, steal the meal from a juvie eagle.

Our local eagles don't generally bother the youngsters, they mostly only go after the ospreys. I saw three ospreys today that had just caught fish get jumped by an eagle. Twice the osprey was double teamed by two eagles that came from two different directions.

Today's blog post deals with a portion of that.
