Tom......I SEE what you mean! That is undoubtedly, the BEST shot of a wood duck drake I've EVER seen!

Everyone......check out the download! It's BEAUTIFUL !

You need to get that baby up to maybe 16 X 20, into a frame, and on a wall !

Oddly enough, after 65 years of tromping around in the "great outdoors", the ONLY wood ducks I have ever been fortunate enough to see yet, were in a duck pond in the Spring Grove Cemetery, in Cincinnati; for what ever reason, they came there every year, but I never had an opportunity to photograph them.

I knew a guy that had a lot of wood duck shots . but they were all decoys . he used to set them up it ihe perfect spot take pictures . they looked more real than this one . and he would sell them for the real thing . made a ton of money . he advertised in a couple log home books once . and he could not keep up . he sold 16x20 in real nice ceder frames that a craftsmen made for
him for $15 each then he would charge only $65 . he sold enough to pay his house off and them some .but he passed away a few years ago . I don't think any one took his place . would make a nice little cottage buesness .

Thanks everyone for your comments.

The Wood Duck is so photogenic.

The colors are what fascinate me so much.

I have helped the DNR & NWR staff band them the past two summers and really found it fun and rewarding.

Thanks again,

Tom

Dave,

NO FAIR!

Your Woody looks like it's molting!
So comparing to the Mandarin is NO FAIR!

Just kidding, I wish that someday I can see some of the other exotic and beautiful birds of the world in their natural environments.

Thanks for sharing,

Tom

Dave,

I looked up the Mandarin Duck (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mandarin_Duck)
and a lot of the duck pictures were from Richmond Park in London, UK !

Are there wild Mandarin Ducks there?

If so lucky U.

Never been to Richmond Park, Tom, I go to a Wetland Trust site called Martin Mere, Burscough, UK. There is usually a few sets of male and female ducks of Mandarin and Wood Ducks.

Mr Mandarin Duck
