I have Photo Elements 9 and was wondering if it is worth the money to up-grade now that PSE 12 is out? Are there any things that I can't do in PSE 9??
Thanks for any advice.

I'll be interested in the response. I am considering installing a version of V9 that came with a camera.

I can't answer your question, as I don't use PSE, but since you already skipped three versions, I suspect there will be lot of things available that version9 does not have.

There are of course pros and cons, I was happy with PSE9 and even happier with PSE11. I have heard that some features of 11 have been removed in 12.

Appears there's quite a difference between PSE-9 and PSE 12, per Adobe -- http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements/buying-guide.html

Also another source dealing with PSE-9 vs PSE-11 here -- http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-11-vs10-9-8-7-differences-between-versions.html

My personal opinion is that there is a BIG improvement going from 9 to 11, but debatable about cost-benefit of moving from 11 to 12. I think it boils down to personal choices of how you use it and what you expect from it.

It is impossible to give you an answer. Certainly, there is a lot of new features, but you may not have use for any of them. I know people who still use PSE 4 and they are fully content with it.
The best for you is to download a free trial of PSE 12 which is fully functional and see for yourself. The link is here:

Thanks, Joe, for asking this question, & thanks to the rest for the responses as I was wondering about upgrading too.

There are also features which are available in PSE9 but have been removed in PSE12. That's something else to keep in mind.

If you wait a while, there may be a better price on PSE 12 around the holidays coming up.

What has been removed? The difference between PSE9 & PSE12 is like night and day.

I plan on getting 12. If there is something that has been removed from a version, you don't have to uninstall one version to go to a new version. I have versions 3,7,9,& 10 installed. Most of the time I only use 10, but have used 9 once in a while.
