Just because the name "Pentax" isn't mentioned too often, doesn't mean it's a inferior camera. On the contrary...the K3 has 24mp, the same as Nikon's D7100. Video shoots 60fps and you can capture time lapse sequences. Burst mode is 8fps and it has a 27pt. auto focus. What's not to like? Plus the camera is sealed. Some people say...if it's not a Nikon or Canon, how good can it be? Don't fall onto that trap. Truth is, there's a lot of Pentax users out there.

Been shooting a K10d for about 2 years. Would not trade it for the world. Remember, there was a time when the name Honeywell/Pentax was like Sterling on Silver. They don't need to give camera shops half a lung for the opportunity to merchandise their product. Many of those "non fans" bought name and forgot ability, imagination, and talent!

I will be getting it also but will have to wait till after the first of the year. I really believe this camera will end up being one of the best crop sensor cameras on the market and at $1300.00 it is cheaper than what I paid for my K-5

Still use my Kx and love my K5, but I think I'll pass this one up and wait for the promised K1 (FF) to make its appearance :)

Story is that Ricoh is investing heavily into this brand, having gotten it for a song from Hoya. Their goal is to have Pentax regain its proper place at the head of the camera industry. With all that at stake they can't afford for this camera to be other than excellent.

I've been using my K-10d for about a year now I love it, and still use all 3 of my film Pentax's once in a while. I'll have to wait awhile for the new K3, but it's on my list.

I've had my K-30 since April - Still learning but really like it. Image quality is excellent. My Father had a Pentax in the 70's - I am still using some of his lenses - This is my second Pentax product and I don't see buying another brand anytime soon.

Thanks for tooting the Pentax horn....

I've been a Nikon shooter forever, but if I were just starting to build a kit, I'd look very seriously at Pentax. They've alway made good gear and it's a bargain compared to Nikon and Canon prices. And the K3 is an awful like what a Nikon D400 ought to be.

Just a word of caution: I have used Pentax for years and have invested big bucks in lenses. I have a D*50-135 f/2.8 that I really like. 2 years ago the auto-focus motor went out. Had it fixed. In June it went out again. None of this is in warranty. Sent it back to be repaired and they have had it since June 26. Say parts are on back order. Original price $1500. Another $200 to get it fixed, another $200 if they ever fix it. This business with Pentax/Hoya/Ricoh is a mess.

Yes the older SDM Lens were prone to failure but it seems that the problem is fixed now very few failures are being noticed in the last year.
