I see the LEICA X1 being pushed now. 24mm f/28 ASMP 12 MP at $1,995.00 seems a little much to pay. Can anyone tell us what they think of this camera.

I am so darn insecure when it comes to buying a camera .... I always feel I have to stick with it for life so I better choose right.

landscapes love medium format camera, Mamiya or hasselblad, figure 17000 or so for a Maymiya or 30-40000 for the Swedish camera, or buy a decent 10-12 mp NAME BRAND camera and go shoot, you dont need a full frame 21mp camera to get gorgeous images
This is the season to buy, look for refurbs, used camera's from pro's or better yet serious ammateurs who are uopgrading their gear. Some folks prefer Canon ( like me) others swear by Nikon, Pentax,Sony etc, go handle some camera's what FEELS best in your hands, go with that, most consumer grade cameras are very competitive in features and price, hard to go wrong with any name brand gear.

best camera in the world is what the cia uses in orbit that can shoot a clear photo of a cigarette package on the ground from outer space. Best camera for you is which ever one you like that fits comfortably, and contols are easy to get to. All the major camera mac=kers are well made cameras, there are no dogs except holgas. if you are going to use your camera in extreme conditions look for a professional grade camera like a nikon d-3x. otherwise any will do.

At $43,000.00 for just the camera body my guess is the Hasselblad...

I don't know who said "The best camera is the one you will use the most" but it does ring true. As I progressed through learning photography I purchased better camera's, not because they took better photo's but because they had features which were useful. Don't start out with a very complicated camera, find something that is comfortable in your hand, you will be holding it for a long time.

There are no bad cameras, just bad photographers. Unfortunately, cameras are made for dummies, who would not know the difference between an f/stop and a short stop, so they contain a lot of gimmicks. For me, the perfect camera is no yet built, 12 mp, three program modes, A,S, and M. An ISO of 25-800 and live view.

Now thats just plain silly! Of course there are bad cameras. In 1965 I bought a Kowa 35mm with a fixed lens of questionable quality because I thought $100 at the Navy Exchange was too much for something a Nikon Photomic. The camera was soon rendered useless because of it's lack of capabilities within 1 year but couldn't afford a new camera until 1975, at which time I purchased a Nikon F2 with a 105 micro-nikkor.

So what, the camera is being "pushed."
First you have to define what your going to use it for, how it feels in your hands. Does it have the features you want? Can you afford it?
There are no bad cameras.
But I love my Nikon D7000.
